Mayor Chooses The Link as Charity of the Year

The Mayor of Ards, Councillor David Smyth officially announced that he has selected The Link as his designated charity for 2010-2011 at a reception for staff, volunteers and invited guests last Tuesday 14th September at the Town Hall.

 

"I was very keen to choose a local charity which has a very definate local impact and The Link most definately meets those criteria," siad Councillor Smyth. "It is now a wel-established organisation in Ards, with a deserved reputation for doing work which makes a real difference to real people, many of whom find themselves in difficult circumstances. I look forward to supporting the charity and to promoting The Link's work during my time as Mayor."

Director of The Link, Diane Holt gave a short presentation of the current and developing work of The Link and thanked the Mayor for his kindness in supporting The LInk. "The Link is made up of numerous local people who put huge effort and time into enabling the staff to carry out the work." She said. "The volunteers, staff and users of The Link are greatly encouraged by this gesture of support by the Mayor in such a practical way over the next year and I know it will make a real difference to what we will be able to do in the local community."
